Miami Dade's #1 Mulch Installation Services: Transform Your Property

Our installation process focuses on correct depth and precise distribution to maximize plant health. We begin by clearing debris and defining crisp bed edges before applying a uniform 2-to-3-inch layer of high-quality organic mulch, such as shredded hardwood, bark, or triple-shredded dyed options. We take extra care to keep mulch away from plant stems and tree trunks to prevent moisture trapping and bark rot. Contact us today to refresh your landscape beds with professional mulch application tailored to your property.

FAQ’S

Frequently Asked Questions

The ideal depth for mulch installation is 2 to 3 inches. Applying less than 2 inches allows weeds to sprout easily and fails to retain soil moisture, while applying more than 3 inches can smother plant roots and block oxygen and water from penetrating the soil.

Organic mulch breaks down naturally over time, improving soil quality as it decomposes. Most landscape beds benefit from a fresh top-dressing once a year—typically in early spring—or at least every 12 to 18 months to maintain proper depth, rich color, and weed suppression.

Dyed mulches (black, dark brown, red) use vegetable or water-based dyes to hold their color longer, usually lasting a full season without fading. Natural hardwood mulch ages into a softer gray-brown tone faster, but breaks down into rich organic matter that nourishes the soil sooner.

In most cases, old mulch does not need to be completely removed if it has decomposed naturally and total bed depth is under 3 inches. However, if old mulch is matted, moldy, or building up too high around plants, scraping off the excess layer before adding new mulch ensures optimal plant health.

Piling mulch against trunks—often called “mulch volcanoes”—traps moisture against the bark. This causes soft wood rot, invites wood-boring insects, and creates a humid environment for fungal diseases. Leaving a 2-to-3-inch space around plant bases allows air circulation and prevents decay.
